Defining Your Vision, Mission, and Values

A 3-Month Program to Define Your Vision, Mission and Values, and Develop Organisational Culture

Create crystal-clear Vision, Mission, and Values, and foster a positive, inclusive, and productive culture with a shared sense of purpose and team direction.

This program helps to inform your decisions while creating your business identity, and helps your team gain a deep understanding of your business’s Vision, Mission, and Values, and their significance in achieving your shared goals.

In a rapidly changing and uncertain world, businesses face unique challenges that demand a strong organisational culture. We understand the obstacles that the Head of People, HR Director, Head of Learning and Development, CEO, COO, Department Heads, and other senior leaders encounter when navigating this complex landscape.

Imagine a future where your team is aligned, driven, and working towards a shared vision. A future where your organisation’s values are not just words on paper, but deeply ingrained in your culture. Picture a team with a shared mindset, a common language for effective communication, and the motivation to achieve extraordinary results. This is the future we can help you achieve.

The Defining Your Vision, Mission, Values program is an evolutionary journey of discovery and alignment, delivering a deep understanding of your business’s Vision, Mission, and Values. It begins with in-depth research, and culminates in a two-day, off-site workshop, designed to empower and build a thriving working culture, motivating your team to drive real-world results, using a powerful, proven, shared framework – The Hive’s patented STORM Process™ – to solve complex problems as a stronger, more cohesive team.

What made us create this program?

  • PwC’s annual ‘CEO Survey 2023’ showed nearly 40% of CEOs recognise that their company will not be economically viable in 10 years’ time if it continues on its current course – a pattern that is consistent across sectors.
  • Deloitte’s ‘Human Capital Trends’ found only 23% of organisations believe leaders in their business are well equipped to lead effectively in a disrupted world.
  • MIT Sloan Review’s ‘Toxic Culture is driving The Great Resignation’ calculated that toxic corporate culture was 10 times more likely to predict attrition.
  • Deloitte’s ‘Global Gen Z and Millennials Survey 2022’ discovered 44% of Gen Z and 43% of Millennials say they have recently left a workplace because of burnout.

We recognised the urgency for businesses to adapt and transform in a post-pandemic, volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world. There’s a growing gap in leadership capabilities alongside demand for a new type of leadership that can thrive in a boundaryless and disrupted world. We identified the need to focus on culture transformation, helping businesses create a positive and inclusive work environment that attracts and retains talent, with toxic cultures having a profoundly negative impact on employee engagement, well-being, and retention.

So we designed and developed a program that addresses critical challenges faced by businesses in a post-pandemic, VUCA world, by working to define their identity with Vision, Mission, and Values.

These are some of the challenges facing business leaders in a VUCA world, which this workshop helps you to overcome:

Increased competition

In today’s VUCA world, businesses are facing increased competition from all sides. This can make it difficult to stay ahead of the curve and to achieve your goals.

Uncertainty

The future is uncertain, and this can create anxiety and stress for teams. They may be worried about their jobs, their company’s future, and their own capacity to cope with change.

Conflict

Teams may be struggling to resolve conflicts effectively. This can lead to decreased productivity, morale, and innovation.

Rapid Change

The pace of change is accelerating, and this can make it difficult to keep up. Teams may be struggling to adapt to new technologies, new regulations, and new customer demands.

Resistance

Teams may be struggling to accept changes to their working habits. This can lead to resentment, decreased productivity, and sabotage.

Mistrust

Teams may be sceptical, especially if they’ve experienced failure before. This can lead to disengagement, disconnection, and even toxicity.

Case Study

Their situation

A national manufacturer was looking to grow and become an international supplier, after the business was handed down a generation. The outgoing leader was being replaced by someone many years younger who had big plans, but inherited an old-fashioned culture.

The company had been established for close to a century, staying in the same family for generations, and the senior leadership team was accustomed to doing things a certain way, and the new leader found it difficult to clearly define the organisation’s strategy.

The new Managing Director recognised that to grow and expand they needed to embrace culture change, starting by defining their identity with the creation of their Vision, Mission, and Values, to help her leadership team and her workforce transition.

Our solution

We delivered a program that aligned the entire workforce by establishing a clear and agreed-upon Vision, Mission, and Values. The senior leaders and employees were engaged in a comprehensive review, gaining clarity on how these vital elements fit into their current and future landscape, and their roles in attaining these shared objectives.

The result

After this program, the senior leadership team rallied around the new leader’s plans, and the wider organisation was motivated to embrace the future changes. Installing a fresh Vision, Mission, and Values gave everyone an understanding of the aim of culture change.

The program gave their team a shared framework to solve complex problems, with a shared set of tools and vocabulary, while gaining organisation-wide buy-in and alignment with a shared sense of purpose and direction, and teams ready to play a part in change.
