Much needed escape from reality

Intergalactic collaboration with global SAAS business that delivers ‘mission-critical’ IT management technology.

Following the sustained period of remote working during the pandemic, momentum, morale and a sense of connection were low.

The business wanted to deliver an engaging team build for c. 4,000 employees around the world – but it had to be virtual. Learning from the previous year, they wanted a high level of interaction, connection and collaboration between different global teams.  The stakes were high and the enablement team wasn’t willing to take the risk on an event that wouldn’t cut it in the virtual world. Surely there was something better out there. We understood that they needed an event that would be so creative, immersive and inclusive that it would cut-through the virtual fatigue and reinvigorate some of the lost energy, enthusiasm and teamwork. Rising to the challenge, we collaborated with the enablement team, creatives and event producers to design, build and execute an event in a way that had never been done before virtually. 

Following the sun, we transported 4,000 global employees to ‘outer space’ using a mix of CGI, ‘choose your own adventure’ videos, and a live green screen studio based in London. Our approach enabled teams to take part simultaneously while still influencing outcomes of the game. 

The adventure strengthened cross-team collaboration. New relationships were fostered, teams were re-energised, people had fun. It provided a much-needed escape from reality during unprecedented times and the conversations, photos and stories shared across the organisation helped the buzz to live on long after the event.
